How to Choose a Barbell

Thickness
According to the size of the earring hole
Please choose from 16G or 14G.
1).16G (Diameter: 1.2mm)
A thickness that can be used even for standard pierced ears.
This is a popular gauge size.
Even for those who have pierced their ears with 14G, if you haven't worn earrings for a while, the piercing hole may have shrunk, so 16G is recommended.
2).14G (Diameter: 1.6mm)
If you pierced your ears with a 14G needle, please choose 14G.
Also, generally, people who have cartilage piercings or body piercing holes done at hospitals tend to have 14G.
02.
Length
The thickness of the earring hole plus 1mm is comfortable.
Piercing Hole Thickness +1mm
For easier attachment and removal of parts and cleaning of the barbell, we recommend adding 1mm to the piercing hole thickness. Individual differences exist, but generally, 7mm is popular for tragus piercings.
* If the length does not fit, please use our Return & Exchange Service.
* If there is a possibility of swelling due to unstable holes or other reasons, we recommend adding an additional 1mm.

About Tragus
Q&A
Will it get in the way when wearing earphones?
Whether a tragus piercing affects earphones is a concern for many people. However, if you use a “labret stud barbell” of the proper length, the piercing will rarely get in the way even when wearing earphones. Labret stud barbells are designed to sit flat against the inside of the ear, so they are less likely to interfere with earphones and are comfortable to wear. This lets you enjoy the appeal of a tragus piercing without affecting your daily life or music listening.
Where is the cutest placement for a tragus piercing?
The ideal tragus placement varies from person to person, but in general, placing the piercing hole in the center of the tragus or slightly above the center gives a cuter look. This placement can be adjusted according to the shape of the ear and each person’s facial features, allowing the tragus piercing to blend naturally with the ear’s contours. In particular, placing it toward the upper part of the tragus also makes it easier to enjoy pairing it with other piercings. Choosing a placement that suits your face and ear shape creates a better overall balance and makes it even more attractive.
How painful is it to pierce the tragus?
The pain when piercing the tragus varies depending on each person’s sensitivity to pain and the thickness of the tragus, but in general, it is often felt as mild pain or discomfort. The tragus area is relatively thick and contains cartilage, so there may be some pain during piercing. However, the pain is usually brief and is not unbearable. Using the proper technique can help minimize the pain.
How can I pierce it without making a mistake?
To pierce the tragus safely, professional treatment at a clinic is recommended rather than doing it yourself. At a clinic, a professional piercer can make the hole in the correct position and with the proper angle, greatly reducing the risk of mistakes. It is also important to have the procedure done in a hygienic environment to minimize the risk of infection. By choosing a trusted clinic, you can enjoy your tragus piercing with peace of mind.
What is the best first piercing?
Please pay attention to the following three points when choosing.
① Parts that put less strain on the piercing hole
When choosing a first piercing, we recommend parts with a “snag-free design,” “small size,” and “lightweight,” as these put less strain on the piercing hole.
In particular, being snag-free is important because it helps avoid piercing problems that can happen in daily life. For your first piercing, please choose a part with a smooth, simple design.

② A barbell that fits the piercing hole
It is also important to choose a barbell with a length that matches the size of the piercing hole. A barbell that is too short puts pressure on the hole, while one that is too long is more likely to snag. Choosing the correct length helps maintain the comfort and health of your tragus piercing. Be sure to choose the right size until the piercing hole has fully healed.

③ Materials that suit your body
Gold, platinum, medical-grade stainless steel, and titanium are recommended because they are less likely to cause allergies. PICOLLET barbells are available in two types: gold (K18) and platinum (Pt850).
