How to Choose a Barbell
For comfortable use of your helix
Please choose the best one.
01.
Thickness
According to the size of the earring hole
Please choose from 16G or 14G.

1).16G (Diameter: 1.2mm)
A thickness that can be used even for standard pierced ears.
This is a popular gauge size.
Even for those who have pierced their ears with 14G, if you haven't worn earrings for a while, the piercing hole may have shrunk, so 16G is recommended.
2).14G (Diameter: 1.6mm)
If you pierced your ears with a 14G needle, please choose 14G.
Also, generally, people who have cartilage piercings or body piercing holes done at hospitals tend to have 14G.
02.
Length
The thickness of the earring hole plus 1mm is comfortable.

Piercing Hole Thickness +1mm
For easier attachment and removal of parts and cleaning of barbells, we recommend adding +1mm to the piercing hole thickness. Individual differences exist, but generally, 7mm is popular for helix piercings.
* If the length does not fit, please use our Return & Exchange Service.
* If there is a possibility of swelling due to unstable holes or other reasons, we recommend adding an additional +1mm.
03.
Material
Gentle on pierced ears
Hypoallergenic precious metals are recommended.

04.
Type
To Helix
Straight rings are popular.

About Helix
Q&A
What is a Helix Piercing?
Among cartilage piercings, the helix is a popular spot located on the upper ear cartilage near the rim, called the scaphoid fossa.
It’s close to eye level, making it noticeable, and it brightens the face, making it popular not only among younger people but also those in their 40s and 50s.
Where is the cutest spot for a Helix Piercing?
The recommended spot for a helix piercing is where the curve of the ear rim (the rolled cartilage edge) starts to turn downward.
When viewed in a mirror, a position near eye level looks especially cute.
To enjoy your helix piercing to the fullest, it’s important to understand the shape of your own ear.
Since the helix piercing is made near the rim, sometimes the shape of the ear rim can prevent you from wearing the piercing you want.
If the rolled edge of the ear rim might press against the piercing, you may need to pierce slightly inside the rim.
How painful is getting a Helix Piercing?
Pain tolerance varies from person to person, so it’s hard to generalize.
If using a piercing gun, the spring’s snap makes the pain very brief.
At a clinic, anesthesia may be available before the procedure, so if you’re sensitive to pain, we recommend getting pierced at a clinic.
Also, the pain after getting pierced usually lasts longer than the piercing itself, so it’s a good idea to have painkillers ready in advance for peace of mind.
How to avoid mistakes when getting pierced?
Because the helix is easy to see in a mirror, many people pierce it themselves.
However, self-piercing can sometimes cause the hole to be angled.
Of course, if the hole is angled, the piercing will sit crookedly.
To avoid such mistakes, if you’re inexperienced, we recommend going to a clinic.
What to do if your Helix piercing isn’t healing well?
Caring for your piercing hole is simple—just gently rinse it with the shower when you bathe.
Even if you think you’ve rinsed your body, shampoo, sweat, and oils often remain near the hole.
Rinsing the hole with the shower for a few seconds at the end of your bath completes your daily care.
Remember, until your piercing hole stabilizes, it’s essentially a wound.
If you touch it carelessly or neglect cleanliness, problems can arise.
If issues occur, check whether the material of your piercing suits your body.
If problems persist, it’s important to seek proper treatment at a clinic.
About Metal Allergies
Recommended First Piercings
It’s important not to put stress or irritation on a newly pierced hole.
Avoid designs that can catch on hair or large, heavy motifs.
Choosing hypoallergenic materials that suit your body is also crucial.
Lightweight, small, and snag-free designs are recommended.
For barbells, until the piercing stabilizes, it’s best to choose a length that is the thickness of your piercing hole plus 2mm to allow for swelling.
Choosing a barbell that fits perfectly before healing leaves no space for discharge to escape, which can cause inflammation, infection, or granulomas.
However, too long a barbell can cause unnecessary catching after swelling subsides, so we recommend piercing hole thickness plus 2mm.
