How to Choose a Barbell
For comfortable use of your helix
Please choose the best one.
01.
Thickness
According to the size of the earring hole
Please choose from 16G or 14G.
1).16G (Diameter: 1.2mm)
A thickness that can be used even for standard pierced ears.
This is a popular gauge size.
Even for those who have pierced their ears with 14G, if you haven't worn earrings for a while, the piercing hole may have shrunk, so 16G is recommended.
2).14G (Diameter: 1.6mm)
If you pierced your ears with a 14G needle, please choose 14G.
Also, generally, people who have cartilage piercings or body piercing holes done at hospitals tend to have 14G.
02.
Length
The thickness of the earring hole plus 1mm is comfortable.
Piercing Hole Thickness +1mm
For easier attachment and removal of parts and cleaning of barbells, we recommend adding +1mm to the piercing hole thickness. Individual differences exist, but generally, 7mm is popular for helix piercings.
* If the length does not fit, please use our Return & Exchange Service.
* If there is a possibility of swelling due to unstable holes or other reasons, we recommend adding an additional +1mm.
03.
Material
Gentle on pierced ears
Hypoallergenic precious metals are recommended.
04.
Type
For helix piercings,
straight segment rings are popular.

About Helix
Q&A
What Is a Helix Piercing?
A helix piercing is one of the most popular types of cartilage piercings. It is placed in the upper ear cartilage near the rim, in the area called the scaphoid fossa.
Because it sits close to eye level and is easy to notice, and because it adds a bright accent around the face, it is popular not only with younger people but also with those in their 40s and 50s.
Where Is the Cutest Spot for a Helix Piercing?
The recommended placement for a helix piercing is around where the curve of the ear rim cartilage starts turning downward.
When you look in the mirror, it can look especially cute if it sits close to eye level.
To enjoy your helix piercing more attractively, it is important to understand the shape of your own ear well.
Since a helix is pierced near the edge, the shape of the ear rim may make it impossible to wear the piercing you wanted.
If the folded part of the ear rim looks like it may hit the piercing, you may need to place the piercing hole slightly inward from the edge.
How Much Does It Hurt to Get a Helix Piercing?
Pain tolerance varies from person to person, so it is hard to say for sure, but if you use a piercing device, it is done all at once with the spring force, so the pain is over in an instant.
If you get it done at a clinic, anesthesia may be available before the procedure, so if you are sensitive to pain, we recommend getting it done at a clinic.
Also, the pain from getting a piercing lasts longer after the piercing than during it, so it is reassuring to prepare pain relief in advance.
How Can You Get It Done Without Making a Mistake?
Helix piercings are easy to check in a mirror, so many people are able to do them themselves.
However, when you do it yourself, the hole may end up angled.
Of course, if the hole is angled, the piercing will also sit at an angle when worn.
To avoid mistakes like this, a clinic is recommended if you are inexperienced.
What If the Helix Doesn’t Heal Well?
Caring for a piercing hole is simple: when you take a bath, gently rinse the piercing hole with a shower.
Even if you think you rinsed your body with the shower, shampoo, sweat, and sebum are often still left around the hole.
Just rinsing the hole with the shower for a few seconds at the end of your bath is enough for everyday care.
As a rule, please remember that until the piercing hole stabilizes, it is still a wound.
If you carelessly touch the wound or fail to keep it clean, problems can occur.
If a problem does occur, check whether the material of the piercing you are wearing is suitable for your body.
If the problem does not resolve easily, it is important to receive proper treatment at a clinic or similar facility.
About Metal Allergies
What Is the Best First Piercing?
It is important not to irritate or strain a newly pierced hole.
For that reason, you should avoid designs that can get caught in your hair, as well as large, heavy motifs.
It is also important to choose a material that suits your body and is designed to help prevent metal allergies.
Lightweight, small designs with no snagging points are recommended.
For barbell length, until the piercing hole stabilizes, we recommend a length of “piercing hole thickness + 2 mm” to allow for swelling.
If you choose a barbell that is a perfect fit before it has stabilized, there will be no room for dirt or discharge to escape, which can lead to problems such as inflammation, infection, or granulomas.
However, if it is too long, it can create unnecessary snagging after the swelling goes down, so we recommend piercing hole + 2 mm.
